Learn how to sign "Backyard" in American Sign Language (ASL). This is a compound signs, “back” and “yard”. Back- hold your dominant hand in a fist with your thumb extended. Use your thumb to point backward over your dominant shoulder, indicating your back. Yard- Place the dominant ‘Y’-handshape over the non-dominant ‘A’-handshape, both palms facing downward. Then, move the Y handshape in a horizontal circular motion and land it over the A handshape.
