To sign "Spirit" in American Sign Language (ASL), form an "8" handshape with both hands (thumb and middle finger touching, other fingers extended). Place the tips of the thumb and middle finger of your dominant hand inside the upright non-dominant "8" hand. Move the dominant "8" hand upward in a snaking or spiraling motion, as if drawing something out from the non-dominant "8" hand.
